What we need to work on (aka, what we did poorly on)

  • Network working before people arrive.
    • This shouldn’t be a problem since configs are now saved for all switches, but a dry run should happen a week before the event.
  • Refreshments
    • POS system
    • having hot food available at all times;
      • grill was shut down by halftime
      • 2nd pizza order (3) became an obligation (and higher than normal cost)
      • Maybe go back to Dominoes?

What we didn't do (but should have done)

  • Refreshments
    • have equipment to reheat food (microwave at the minimum)
    • have policy for custom food orders (like % mark-up)
    • need large ice scoop, and 3 tubs: Pepsi, Coca-Cola, water/bawls/other
  • Tourney Organization
    • Put pictures of the previous tourney winners up on the wall next time.
    • CS:S became a deathmatch, as opposed to a tactical team game
      • Have people preregister teams for CS:S and ET?
      • They could win as a team, and maybe vote an MVP
    • Get a nice 30+ person map for UT2004. There were complaints about the map used (Tokara Forest).
  • Game Organization / Communication
    • Difficult to find players for more obscure games that were supported.
      • Make dry erase boards available
      • Players write their name, seat location, and a time they are available to play.
  • Forums
    • Create a forum on the BYOC page.
      • Allow for pre-LAN Party communication.
        • Players can find team members for group matches and tournaments.
        • Players can scope interest in their favorite games.
        • Players can arrange to play more obscure games at the LAN Party.
  • Registering / Logging in at the LAN Party
    • Players register games they play either at the LAN Party or during pre-registering.
    • Players log in and log out of the LAN Party.
    • Create a webpage to display the data.
      • Summarize number of players who play each supported game.
      • List players by name and username for each game they play.
